To see confidence build when kids realize they can do something they didn't think they could do. |

One of the things that I try to pride myself on is to give each student in my class the feeling that they are special. There were times in my life when maybe I didn't feel that as a student. There were two teachers that really made me feel like I mattered. I teach to honor Mrs Abernathy and Mrs Bunner. And of course, there is also the sports thing! |

I was the child that brought my workbooks home at the end of the school year so I could “play school” over summer break, the adolescent who couldn’t wait to receive my literature book so I could take it home and begin reading it, and the high school student who took nearly every class offered by the Language Arts department. It was natural that I would take that love of learning and education and try to share it with others. My “why” moments are when I’m in the classroom discussing literary concepts with kids and they’re “getting” it, or when I see a student’s face light up because he/she has just made a breakthrough. There’s nothing like it! |

I teach to encourage each of my students to recognize the value of meeting his or her potential. FACS classes provide ideal opportunities for me to get to know students and help them build life skills, so that they may be better equipped to achieve personal goals. |

I have always had a curiosity of the world around me, and I want to do my best to instill a curiosity in the next generation, as well. I became a teacher to help my students learn about their world and to help them figure out where their strengths lie and what they should look at doing in life. |
Glasscock, Jill Teacher 260-563-8050 |
I enjoy teaching because I like to inspire students to find, and to reach their potential in their personal life as well as academically. |
Holley, Michael Teacher 260-563-8050 |
I want to help all of the students that I have succeed in any way I can, not just academically. |
Keffaber, Samantha Teacher 260-563-8050 |
There is no better feeling than watching a student connect with the material and thrive as they continue to learn and grow in their education and as individuals. It is a privilege to have a small place in each student’s journey through life, and I strive make sure it’s a positive one so that they remain life-long learners. |

I teach for that one student who struggles and doesn't understand a problem, then that light bulb turns on. I love that look in their face when they say I can do this Mr. Kling! |

As a student, I was lucky enough to have the best teachers guide me throughout my academic career. Each one of them pushed me to live up to my potential, not only as a student but as an individual. My "why" stems from their influences, I would like to return the favor that they all gave to me - to inspire students to live up to their own potential and to try their best to be a good person. |
Lemaster, Sabrina Teacher 260-563-8050 |
I love to witness the moment a student finally "gets" it (understands). It is a beautiful moment, full of empowerment and excitement! |
McClure, Shawn Teacher 260-563-8050 |
My "Why" is because I want to have the same impact on others as my teachers had on me. |

I remember doubting myself throughout my student experience. I remember this vividly, from kindergarten to Purdue University. In between the self-doubt, I had several teachers and professors who believed that I could achieve anything, at any level. These educators all had something in common. Their approach was not a canned lesson to a large class. Their approach was directed to me. They spoke to me. They said:
- “I believe in you.”
- “Find something you love to do and do it well.”
- “Don’t worry about what other kids think or say about you.”
- “You are doing a great job, but you need to work a little harder.”
- “It’s ok to fail at something or to be disappointed. You learn from this.”
- “Doesn’t it feel good to work hard and succeed?”
- “I care about you.”
The list goes on. These teachers continue to be some of the most important people in my life. I teach because of them. |

My "Why" I went into education: I loved school then and I love school now. Kids should love school, not just for the socializing aspect, but for all school offers for them to succeed in their future! |
Misson, Fred Teacher 260.563.8050 |
As a high school student a guidance counselor told me I was no "David Lemon" a friend who later went to Harvard....this easily could have ended my belief that I had any academic potential at all as I took it to mean I wasn't very smart. It was only years later in college that I found out the opposite was true and because I had bought into this self-fulfilling prophecy I was limiting my potential based on what a single person had said about me. I teach to lift students up, as many need it, helping them to reach their potential through believing in themselves. I understand the power of positive thinking in creating a positive self fulfilling prophecy and want to pass it on. |
Myers, Shelly Teacher 260-563-8050 |
More than any lessons that I learned in high school, I remember the teachers who showed me they cared about me. I want my students to remember that when they were in my class THEY mattered to me, not their grade. It is amazing what kids are capable of doing when they know someone cares. Plus, I get to teach them subjects that I enjoy and make them better educated citizens! |

I enjoy encouraging young people & seeing them grow in confidence & understanding as the days & weeks march on. I enjoy helping them to find their strengths. I love seeing their excitement as they learn a new skill. I also love to see how their lives have progressed once they leave my classroom & move on to explore the adult world. I am always proud & amazed at all students accomplish. |

Phelps, Adam Teacher 260-563-8050 |
I teach because I want my classroom to be a place where anyone can be accepted. I never want anyone to feel that they have to spend lunch in the restroom because the students and staff make them feel unimportant and unvalued. |
Siders, Amelia Teacher 260-563-8050 |
